Origin Story
§ 1
Desk lamp illuminating the first origami crane folded on a wooden workbench

"The first crane took me forty minutes. I folded it three more times before dinner."

— Mira Okafor, Founder

It started with a
single square
of washi paper.

In February 2018, Mira Okafor sat at her kitchen table with a single 15cm sheet of washi paper and a library book from 1987. Three hours later, Fold was born — not as a plan, but as a place to leave notes for her future self.

What you find here is the same thing she was looking for then: clear diagrams that don't skip steps, honest writing about what's hard, and a community that celebrates the crumpled attempts as much as the finished cranes.

Paper remembers every fold. So do we.
